Swing Gates in Chennai
A swing gate opens like a door, hinged on pillars at one or both sides of the driveway, and is the mechanism most people picture when they think of a traditional main gate. SilverVista fabricates single and double-leaf swing gates in Chennai and up to 50km beyond, including Sriperumbudur, Chrompet, Pallavaram, and Tambaram, in any of our 13 panel designs.
Single Swing vs Double Swing
Single Swing Gate
One leaf, hinged on one side, swings open across the full width of the opening. Simpler hinge and hardware, suited to narrower openings.
Double Swing Gate
Two leaves, hinged on opposite sides, meet in the middle when closed and each swings open across half the width. Common on wider openings since each leaf is lighter and needs less swing radius per side.
Which One Fits Your Site
Clear Swing Arc Space
Swing gates need this arc kept clear of parked vehicles, planting, or slopes — if that space isn’t available, a sliding or telescopic gate is usually a better fit.
Wide Openings
A double swing gate keeps each leaf shorter and lighter than a single leaf spanning the same width, which also keeps hinge loads and motor sizing more manageable.
Traditional or Period-Style Walls
Swing gates read as the conventional main-gate form, and pair naturally with pillar-mounted lamps, nameplates, or intercom units.
Level, Unobstructed Driveway
Swing gates don’t need a ground track or a long straight run of side wall the way sliding and telescopic gates do.
Materials & Fabrication
Every gate is automated using motors SilverVista manufactures in-house rather than a resold third-party unit — see our Gate Automation Chennai page for the swing-gate motor options and how the motor side works.

Frequently Asked Questions
Should I choose a single or double swing gate?
It mostly comes down to opening width and hinge load: a single leaf spanning a wide opening is heavier and needs a stronger hinge and motor, so most openings over roughly 3.5-4m are built as double swing gates with two lighter leaves instead.
Do swing gates need space on both sides of the wall?
No — a swing gate can be set to open inward, outward, or (on some layouts) either way, so it only needs clear arc space on whichever side it’s set to swing into.
Can a swing gate be automated the same way as a sliding gate?
Yes, with swing-gate-specific motors (arm or underground types) rather than the rack-and-pinion or wheel-driven motors used on sliding gates — SilverVista manufactures both motor families in-house.
